Safari ME Troubleshooting Frequently Asked Questions

How do I troubleshoot a Safari ME?

Start with a full calibration cycle, then check the connection, temperature, and power-cycle the unit. If the Safari ME is completely unresponsive with a blank screen and no charging, it should be sent in for service.

How do I calibrate the Safari ME?

  1. Fully drain the Safari ME to 0%.
  2. Confirm the screen reads 0% and the AC outlets do not turn on, or turn off immediately.
  3. Turn on the USB outlets below the screen and leave them on until the unit fully turns off and will not turn back on.
  4. Plug the Safari ME into an AC wall outlet.
  5. Leave it plugged in overnight, or for at least 8–10 hours, until it reaches 100%.
  6. Test the unit with a device that has a known wattage, such as a 15-watt light, and compare the displayed “Time to Empty” with actual run time.

How do I troubleshoot an auxiliary or expansion battery?

  1. Check the plug connection and make sure the red ring on the plug is completely hidden.
  2. Confirm the Safari ME display shows the combined capacity of both batteries.
  3. Make sure the Safari ME and auxiliary battery are within normal operating temperature.
  4. Turn both units off, disconnect the auxiliary battery for 10 seconds, reconnect it, and turn the system back on.
  5. If needed, unplug the auxiliary battery for 3–5 minutes, reconnect it, and confirm all plugs are secure.
  6. If possible, fully discharge the main unit to 0%, recharge it to 100%, and then reconnect the auxiliary battery.

Why does the Safari ME turn off when 110V is enabled?

A Safari ME that powers off when 110V (AC) output is turned on may be responding to a safety feature or connection issue. Check that all plugs are fully seated, power-cycle the unit by turning it off and disconnecting all cables for at least 10 seconds, and make sure the unit is not in extreme temperatures.

What should I do if the Safari ME has a blank screen and will not charge?

If the unit has no display, does not charge, the cooling fan is not running, and it does not recover after troubleshooting, there are no further home steps to take. The unit should be sent in for further evaluation and service.
