How to Use Limit Grid Consumption Mode
This article gives an overview of the "Limit Grid Consumption" mode, which is the most commonly used operating mode on the Sanctuary system.
Please note: The system warranty is voided if any changes to the system are not done by a licensed electrician or one of our certified technicians. If in need of certification, go to certification.lionenergy.com
Limit Grid Consumption Mode Overview
In Limit Grid Consumption mode, solar power goes to the loads first. Any excess power goes toward charging the battery until the battery is full. After the battery is full, excess solar power is sold back to the grid if grid selling is enabled. When the sun goes down, then the system will run off of battery power until the target state of charge is reached. Once the battery depletes down to the target state of charge (Time of Use Slot n - State of Charge), then the system will start to draw power from the grid. Then in the morning when we get solar power again, the cycle starts over with solar covering loads and charging the battery.
The goal of Limit Grid Consumption mode is to minimize power being drawn from the grid. If there is enough solar power and battery capacity, the system won't need to buy any electricity from the grid, and excess solar power is sold back to the grid.
